The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has announced the appointment of a new chairman.
Donald Brydon CBE has been appointed as chairman, following Dr Chris Gibson-Smith’s retirement after 12 years in the position.
Brydon joins the Board with immediate effect and becomes Chairman from July 1.
Dr Gibson-Smith will remain available to advise the Board until 31 August 2015.
“Being asked to become Chairman of one of the world’s most respected and ambitious financial organisations is a real privilege. I am looking forward to working with a great team and playing my part in helping guide London Stock Exchange Group to further success,” Brydon commented.
Dr Gibson‐Smith added: “I am delighted that Donald will be joining the Board of London Stock Exchange Group, and succeeding me as Chairman. His significant board experience, knowledge of our dynamic industry and his personal qualities will be invaluable to the ambitious, competitive, global Group that our business has now become.
“It has been an honour and a pleasure to have been Chairman of London Stock Exchange Group at such a pivotal time in its long and esteemed history. The Group has transformed, to become an international market infrastructure organisation, defined by its partnership approach, its clear and focused strategy and its growth. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with so many talented people within the business, and I shall look forward to continue to watch the Group on its journey, under Donald’s stewardship”.
