Morningstar UK makes key appointments

Investment research and management firm, Morningstar UK has made three key appointments to its team over the last month.
Dan Kemp has been named co-Head of Investment Consulting and Portfolio Management for Morningstar Investment Management EMEA, a unit of the Morningstar Investment Management group.
Kemp will co-lead Morningstar’s EMEA investment consulting and portfolio management team with Robin Johnson, senior investment consultant.
Kemp will be working with Johnson and the investment team to leverage Morningstar‘s global investment capabilities to provide best practice investment consulting and portfolio management services.
Kemp brings to Morningstar 17 years of experience in research, investment management and investment consulting. He joins from Albemarle Street Partners, an investment consultancy partnership that he co-founded in 2012.
“Morningstar Investment Management serves an increasing number of institutions and advisers, leveraging our research-driven asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio construction capabilities. Dan’s investment management experience in the UK market will further strengthen our offering to clients,” said Chief Investment Officer at Morningstar, Daniel Needham.
Meanwhile, the firm also announced the appointment of Daniel Vaughan, CFA, and Michael Eyre to the Morningstar OBSR manager research team.
Vaughan brings 15 years of experience in the investment management industry, with extensive experience in fund selection and multimanager portfolio management.
Eyre brings six years of experience as a buy-side fixed-income analyst in multimanager and single-manager environments. He joins Morningstar from Momentum Global Investment Management, where he was a senior fixed-income analyst, responsible for qualitative and quantitative manager research.
“Our global manager research team provides in-depth views and analyst ratings on 3,500 funds worldwide, including 900 funds that are available for sale in the UK”, said Ruli Viljoen, head of manager research for Morningstar OBSR.
“Daniel’s and Michael’s considerable industry experience will further enrich our work identifying funds with merit for the UK investor, and we are pleased to welcome them to the company,” they added.
