euro hits 5-month low against dollar

Thursday 21st January 2010
The euro hit a five-month low against the dollar in early trading on Thursday.

Once again it has been hampered by financial fears for some euro zone economies, Greece in particular.

Meanwhile the Australian dollar bounced back from losses following better than expected economic figures from China - including a 10.7% rise in annual GDP in the fourth quarter.

The yen fell on the news from Beijing.
