Man United fans urge Alex Ferguson to quit over Glazer bonds

Monday 18th January 2010
By Mike Jones

Manchester United fans angry at the US Glazer family's ownership of the club want manager Sir Alex Ferguson to quit in protest.

The issue was raised at a meeting of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust, The Guardian reports.

The Glazers are currently looking to borrow £500million in a bond issue to part cover the £700million debts the club now has as a result of their 2005 takeover.

They are also exploring the prospect of selling and leasing back Old Trafford and their Carrington training ground.
